Dana White’s Contender Series 2021: Week 2 - Fight Preview & Analysis

On September 7, “Dana White’s Contender Series 2021: Week 2” is going to take place in UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Nevada. 10 very talented fighters will try to earn the contract with the biggest promotion.

The headlining of the event is going to be two undefeated welterweights clash between Darian Weeks and Josh Quinlan. Both fighters have identical professional MMA records, with five victories and no defeat. Both earned three victories via TKO/KO and two via submissions. This is going to be a really close fight. Their styles, age, size, a record are similar, so it is hard to predict anything. Darian is a little bit more experienced. Since 2016, he has fought 9 MMA fights as an amateur, and he earned six victories. Josh unlikely his rival is undefeated in his pro MMA career and Amateur. he fought twice as an amateur and earned two victories via TKO/KO in the first round. Josh has the advantage of fighting in a promotion like LFA three times, unlike his rival, who fought in such a promotion only once but managed to win in the second round via TKO. It is tough to predict anything, but Josh will take the UFC contract home from my perspective.

Bet on Darian Weeks vs Josh Quinlan with 1xBet

The co-main event will be a middleweight bout between Chidi Njokuani and Mario Filipe De Sousa. Twenty-four years old Brazilians have 12 victories and only one defeat. The last time he celebrated the victory at Dana White’s Contender series against Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz. Chidi is a way more experienced fighter. In Bellator, he earned five victories and three defeats. After leaving Bellator’s promotion, he only fought once and won in LFA against Cristhian Torres via TKO in the second round. He suffered losses seven times in his pro MMA career. Out of 7 losses, 3-3 are via submissions and TKO, and one via decision.

Another Brazilian prospect Saimon Oliveira will face undefeated British/Afghanistan fighter Javid Basharat. Javid is a true finisher. Out of his 10 victories, he earned 5 via TKO and 5 via submissions. Saimon is a more BJJ guy who is an expert in it. Out of his 17 victories, 11 are via submissions.

The odds are not realized yet, but on the websites, 75% of experts think that Basharat will defeat Brazilian. From my point of view, this fight is more 50-50. Brazilian has excellent BJJ technique, so I Would not consider him a favorite.
