Transylvania Open Semis: Kontaveit vs Peterson and Kostyuk vs Halep

Just three matches remain in the Transylvania Open and two of them will be played today. Kontaveit, Peterson, Kostyuk, and Halep will square off in a crunching day.

Anett Kontaveit vs Rebbeca Peterson

The Estonian Anett has won all her games in two sets so far. To start, she beat Aleksandra Krunic 6-3, 7-5 in the Round of 32. Then she beat Alison Van Uytvanck 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 16. To reach in the Semis, Anett put away Anhelina Kalinina 6-3, 6-1. Kontaveit won the Kremlin Cup a few days ago in a three-set battle versus Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Swedish Peterson started in the Round of 32 by beating Jana Fett 6-1, 6-3. Then she overcame Irina Bara 6-0, 6-3. Her toughest game in the tournament came so far came against Lesia Tsurenko who pushed her to three sets. However, she came through 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Marta Kostyuk vs Simona Halep

Ukrainian Kostyuk has won all her games in two sets. Marta started by beating Bernarda Pera 6-3, 6-4. Then in the Round of 16, she trumped Mona Barthel 6-4, 6-4. Then in the battle of teenagers, she gave no chance to US Open winner Emma Raducanu as she clinched a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Romanian Simona Halep has moved without hiccups winning in two sets as well. She started with a 6-1, 6-2 win over compatriot Elena-Gabriel Ruse. In the Round of 16, she defeated Varvara Gracheva 6-4, 6-2. Then she beat another one of her compatriots Jaqueline Cristian 6-1, 6-1.
