Warriors swingman and the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft Andrew Wiggins has been denied vaccination exemption. Andrew doesn’t want to get vaccinated because of religious reasons. Even though NBA doesn’t have a vaccine mandate if the local jurisdiction makes vaccination compulsory then the player must abide by it. San Franciso’s jurisdiction has made it mandatory for a person to get vaccinated before attending the workplace, because of which Wiggins has to take the vaccine if he wants to play in the home fixtures of the Warriors. Andrew averaged 18.6 PPG last season for the Warriors.
NBA Official statement on Wiggins request
The NBA has reviewed and denied Andrew Wiggins' request for a religious exemption from the San Francisco Department of Public Health's order requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all participants age 12 and older at large indoor events. Wiggins will not be able to play in Warriors home games until he fulfills the city's vaccination requirements.
