The sturdy Swiss duo of Jil Teichmann and Belinda Bencic stormed past a loaded Czech Republic team to set up a Semis clash with Australia.
Czech player Marketa Vondrousova defeated Swiss Viktorija Golubic 6-4, 6-2 which gave the Czech team a one-nil lead. However, in the second singles, Switzerland tied the score at 1-1 after Belinda Bencic overcame WTA's third-ranked player Barbora Krejcikova 7-6, 6-4. Then the doubles battle was won by the Switzerland pair of Jil Teichmann and Belinda Bencic over Lucie Hradecka and Karolina Siniakova.
Meanwhile, the Australians made their way to the Semis first when Storm Sanders defeated Yuliya Hatouke 6-3, 6-3. Then, a feisty Ajla Tomljanovic overcame Aliaksandra Sasnovich 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The winner between Australia and Switzerland will meet the winner of Russia and the USA.
