Canadian teenage sensation Leylah Fernandez continued her impressive run in the US Open after beating a dogged Elina Svitolina 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. Leylah has now beaten Osaka, Kerber, and Svitolina marking an incredibly impressive campaign already as all three players entered the tournament as one of the favorites to win it all. Leylah has had to fight tough battles against the contenders as her last three games have gone to the third set.

Leylah’s wizardry came in full flow during the first set win against Elina when she forced her left and right throwing wide shots and then after she pushed her both ways during a long rally, she threw all her power in the shot to the middle after Elina has been pushed to the extreme left going up 4-2. The game between her and Elina turned out to be so intense that even the statistics clearly indicate that. Leylah won 59 service points while Elina won 60, Leylah won 4/10 breakpoints while Elina triumphed in 4/6 such situations. Both players won 11 service games. Elina won 39 receiving points while Leylah won 38 of those. Such is the intensity in which the game unfolded during another enthralling day in the US Open.
