UFC: Glover Teixeira creates record after winning light heavyweight title

Glover Teixeira has proved the phrase “Age is just a number” correct by winning against Jan Blachowiz in the fight for the UFC light heavyweight title. The 42-year-old became the oldest first-time titleholder in the UFC. Texiera kept pounding Jan after taking him to the mat during round one and then seized the title after a “rear-naked-choke”, giving Jan no chance during the battle and resulting in a submission win for Glover. This is Glover’s 33rd victory in a career spanning 19-years.

Glover Teixeira, Light Heavyweight Champion, UFC
I'm breaking the rules, 42 years old, and I'm going to keep breaking those rules. He's a tremendous champion. He's a great champion He beat undefeated Adesanya and he beat everybody to get here. He's a hard-working man. I love this man, he has my respect forever.
Jan Blachowicz, UFC
Everything goes wrong with me, you know? I think I left the 'Legendary Polish Power' in the hotel room. That's what happened. But this is not the end of the story. This book is not closed. I'm not a quitter, I'm not going anywhere. I will come back, for sure.
