Former eight-division world champion Pacquiao has confirmed his boxing career is over after announcing he will run for president of the Philippines.

Pacquiao told Toni Gonzaga on her YouTube program Toni Talks.
My boxing career? My boxing career is already over. It's done because I've been in boxing for a long time and my family says that it is enough. I just continued [to box] because I'm passionate about this sport. I will just support other boxers for us to have a champion again.

Pacquiao had his last fight against Yordenis Ugás in August of this year. The Filipino boxer lost to his opponent by unanimous decision.

Manny made his professional debut in the ring against compatriot Edmund Enting in January 1995. That fight ended in favor of Pacquiao by unanimous decision. He had 62 wins (39 by knockout), eight losses, and two draws.
